General Director Message during the FOBAC consultation.

Following a research on the evaluation of factors that favour the acceptance and the use of the Word of God produced in various forms (written, audio and audiovisual, etc.) in churches in Cameroon and the principal obstacles to the use of these tools, the Forum of Bible Agencies-Cameroon (FOBA-C) presents the National Consultation on the Translation and the Use of the Holy Scriptures in Cameroon under the theme “United for the impact of the Bible in the Nation.”

From November 23rd to 25th 2010, representatives of the Forum of Bible Agencies – Cameroon (FOBA-C) will welcome leaders from over 20 church denominations and Christian organisations in Cameroon to take part in the second national Bible Translation Consultation at the SIL Cameroon Training Centre, in Yaounde.

Seeking to join their efforts with those of the Cameroonian church in relation to Bible translation, this consultation on the Bible translation and the use of the Holy Scriptures in Cameroon will be the occasion to share with church leaders the results of this research work.

Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate how far they have gone and how fruitful they have been in each denomination in increasing the use and understanding of Scriptures but also both FOBAC and delegates wish to put in place a common strategy to reach the unreached groups in Cameroon.

Delegates will have the opportunity to attend according to their choice a number of seminars. In smaller groups, they will discuss topics such as:

Spiritual health of the country: observations, stakes, challenges and opportunities, Reception of the translated Word and use of the Scriptures by the churches in Cameroon,
The role and the responsibility of the church in the live of Cameroonians and their view on the Bible,
Partnerships and planning,
What part would the Church in Cameroon play?

On Thursday 25th, the final day of the consultation, the delegates and FOBA-C representatives will work together to discuss and adopt resolutions concerning the future of the work of Bible translation in Cameroon.

SIL Cameroon is therefore honoured to host such a great event.

Be all welcome and have a nice stay in our premises.
