"If your God is so mighty, why doesn't He speak my language?"
A Cakchiquel (Guatemala) man to SIL founder William Cameron Townsend
SIL had the privilege of hosting the 50th LMC (Leadership Matters Course) in Yaounde, Cameroon. The 31 participants hailed from twelve countries, some from as far as Albania or South Korea, and others from such nearer points as Gabon and The Democratic Republic of the Congo. The two-week course, offered by the FOBAC (Forum of Bible Agencies in Cameroon), seeks to equip participants in seven key leadership areas, including gaining vision, building stronger management and communication skills, and developing relationships. The interactive workshops that accompany the hands-on course offer the opportunity to leave with tangible results, as classroom assignments simulate “real-life” ministry and job demands.
Trainers have a breadth of experience that allows them to give participants immediate counsel as they consider the case studies presented during the course. LMC offers the chance to learn from both trainers and one another, as participants share their life experiences and give input during various workshops, thus enhancing the experience for all. One participant was heard to exclaim, “LMC has changed my life!” This is no ordinary course. The principles taught and skills acquired during the two weeks are ones that, once implemented, will indeed change your life!
